Ingredients

For the beef

• 1kg beef (chuck or shoulder), cut into medium-sized pieces

• 1 GREEK at HOME cooking sauce for Classic Casserole “Kokinisto

• 40ml olive oil (approximately 2 1/2 tablespoons)

• 500ml water (approximately 2 cups)

For the pilaf

• 250g bonnet rice

• 500ml chicken broth or water

• 2 bay leaves

• 50g butter

• 1 onion, finely chopped

• Salt-pepper

Cooking instructions

For the beef 

1. Season the beef with salt and pepper, then sauté it in olive oil over high heat until it turns golden brown.

2. Add the entire GREEK at HOME cooking sauce, about 2 cups of water (500ml), and mix well.

3. Cook covered over medium heat for about 2 hours, until the meat boils. During this time, check the dish and add a little water if needed.

For the pilaf

In a saucepan, sauté the onion in 30g of butter, then add the rice and broth. Also, add the bay leaves, the remaining butter (20g), salt, and pepper. Boil with the lid covered until the rice absorbs the liquids.

Serving suggestion

Serve the beef with the pilaf and pour the sauce over it.

Tip: If using a pressure cooker, cook for 50 minutes until the meat becomes tender.
